How to turn on microphone on fortnite (quick!) pc 2018 in this really quick setup i'll show you how to turn on your mic and explain how push to talk works and fortnite pc mic fix: mic stops working after first game ryan.. Many players got their mic working in fortnite by setting their microphone as the default recording device on pc. you can follow these steps to try fixing your fortnite mic not working issue: you need to disable voice chat in fortnite first. in fortnite, click the 3 lines on the top right, then select the cog icon to open the settings menu.. Disabled the mic(s) by right-clicking on them and disabling them; even tho they are disabled, i was able to see in the sound setting that the mic bar has started moving. and fortnite mic works again. re-enabled the mic(s) and it stayed working even thru reboots. i cycled thru the mics options i had in fortnite. all of them worked..
